Serves 8


  • 4 Ohio Granny Smith apples peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 Ohio Jonathan or Macintosh apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1/4 cup cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons allspice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)
  • 1 package puff pastry sheets


Preheat oven to 350ºF. Place apples in acidic water solution (1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon and enough water to cover apples). Mix together sugar, brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon, allspice, and cornstarch; combine with well drained apples. Gently unfold puff pastry sheets; brushing all sides with water. Place apple mixture on pastry sheets; folding all sides in and sealing well. Place in baking dish; slicing at least 4 vapor slits in top of pastry. Bake until pastry is well-browned. Remove and let stand to cool.
